Aside from the timing belt, there are a number of other belts inside that complex universe of steel and metal that you call automotive. There are those that one may categorize under safety devices. Among these are seatbelts. Yes, one may find oneself entirely familiar with the term. After all, who doesn’t know what a seatbelt is, much less how to use one? It’s been one of the earliest safety devices of the car that we almost take it for granted. Still, there are a couple of problems that can spring from seatbelts. Just consider this one: belt tension. Yes, how often do you think about the tension apparent in your seatbelt? How many times have you dismissed the discovery of a loose seatbelt? You may not realize that such dismissals have the possibility of saving and ending your life in dangerous situations, but they do. Great seatbelt tension may be the only thing keeping you from bloodying your thick forehead unto that windshield.

Then there are the other Volvo belts. The power steering belt is one along with the alternator belt, the AC belt and yes, there are even the water pump belt and serpentine v-belt. So there you have it, just to give you a little something on Volvo belts, especially replacement Volvo belts. You never know when you’ll find any use for them but trust me, even if you don’t, having a bit of knowledge on these things takes away nothing from you—in all actuality, it even improves your understanding of the many mysterious ways your Volvo auto parts work, which is something you won’t ever regret having.
