Motoring experts say that the Volvo S40 is a fashionable break from the conventional ‘boxy’ look of the Swedish automaker Volvo.
One car reviewer from Parker’s stated that S40 has shredded off the dowdy image of Volvo, but still keeping its upmarket feel.
The car reviewer who assessed this car was specifically impressed by the comfortable feel and practical driving position and layout of the controls. He described it as being “like you’d expect to see on an upmarket stereo.”
It has upgraded Volvo S40 parts and it has a choice of 1.8 and 2.0 liter engines which provide a lot of power. However, he said that the 1.6-liter version ‘can struggle’ but the 2.4-liter has a great extra performance.
A reviewer from Auto Express were also impressed with the mid-range engine.
These assessors described the Volvo S40 a “very good car” with all its Volvo car parts coordinating well to produce good performance. They also said that it is a good alternative to BMW’s 1-Series and 3-Series, as well as Audi’s A3 and A4 models.
The entry level 1.6S four-door costs £13,777 and is in motor insurance group seven, while the top of the range D5 SE Sport Geartronic carries a £24,712 price tag and is in group 15.
