Volvo V70 wagon has been fully redesigned for the 2008 model year and it is now slightly the same with the Volvo S80 sedan architecture. They have the same wagon body style with XC70, which is also redesigned for the 2008 model year.

Like with the new S80, the in-line engine of the Volvo V70 it turned transversely in the engine bay. Its only available engine is a 3.2-liter six-cylinder type that could deliver 238 horsepower. On the other hand, the S80 offers a turbo six nad also a V-8. There would be an in-line five-cylinder turbodiesel with 185hp available in auto markets outside the US, where the V70 is expected to be a strong seller.

Volvo has an all-wheel drive system which is already a standard to the company and so is its six-speed automatic transmission. Their all-wheel drive system uses a Haldex clutch system to transport power from a 95/5 ratio up to a 35/65 rear bias, and it depends on the traction. Volvo is expecting a top speed of 134 miles per hour, and a moderate speed of 8.6 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour.

The 2008 Volvo V70 will have more leg room and more interior space. There will also be an extra 2.4 inches of wheelbase applied, which will provide more middle-row room.

The middle seats are versatile, as they’re not split into three separate cushions. Each of these three cushions fold flat forward and sp provides more cargo space. For small passengers, the second row can be outfitted with two-position booster seats put together. This eliminates the need to buy aftermarket strap-ins.

The compartment for luggage was extended to nearly two cubic feet to 19 cubic feet, and with the hatch, it makes it all the more easier to access the cargo area.

What’s unique about this new model is that its Volvo V70 parts have been enhanced more and also its safety gear. Volvo’s Side Impact Protection System has also been improved. This new 2008 Volvo model will also be able to experience the whiplash protection restraints (WHIPS) from Volvo, and adaptive cruise control. Along with the other standard Volvo auto parts are the stability and traction control.

With all the threats in our environment, genius car makers such as the Swedish legacy of Volvo managed to come up with various innovations in an attempt to save our dying air. Hence, Volvo has bred another brainchild to their roster of the high-quality Volvo auto parts, the Volvo Catalytic Converter.

The Volvo Catalytic Converter is essentially the catalyst that makes the car’s emission less harmful than it already is. There are three basic things that the Volvo Catalytic Converter does simultaneously. The Volvo Catalytic Converter:

Reduces nitrogen oxides to nitrogen and oxygen.

Oxidizes carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide.

Oxidizes unburnt carcinogenic hydrocarbons to carbon dioxide and water.

There are many ways to take good care of a catalytic converter. Basically, all you have to do is to use unleaded gasoline only since lead leads to catalyst poisoning. And what is more, is that lead has been proven to have more harmful emissions.

Volvo has taken the initiative to eliminate the pollution that kills our environment with the Volvo auto parts. So just think, maybe it is time for you to take part in this revolution too.

Ford Motor Corporation’s subsidiary, Volvo Car Corporation has assigned three Indian dealers ahead of the launch of its cars in the fast increasing market, which had been delayed.

By the end of year 2007, Volvo Car plans to have launched their S80 sedan and sport utility vehicle XC90, which will have a choice of diesel and petrol engines. Also, by the end of 2008, Volvo will assign another 7-9 dealers, according to the Managing Director of Volvo car India Paul de Voijs.

Volvo will plants to initially import their S80 sedans and its Volvo S80 parts and sell them through their dealers in New Delhi, Mumbai and Chandigarh. The Swedish automaker also plans on stepping up the sourcing of their Volvo car parts in India, according to de Voijs.

He added, “If we decide to manufacture here at a later date, then we will obviously consider manufacturing with Ford.” However, he did not give any details on their specific investments and target sales for India.

Volvo had initially informed that it would open up dealerships in the last quarter of 2006 in India. However, they were delayed for almost a year due to their getting hold of the required approvals.

Volvo Car’s plan for India is actually more moderate than in China, where it sold more than 7,000 cars last year, in 2006. Volvo has said that in the next 10 years, china could be their second auto market.

Volvo Car is entering an Indian auto market that’s already competitive. They have forecasts that their annual sales will nearly double to 2 million units by 2007, but de Voijs remains confident that the company would not suffer because of its late entry.

He said, “I think there is no better time to enter the market than now, as the economy is still booming, GDP is growing.”

“There is still growth to be had,” he added.
