The first two new generation of Volvo FL Tankers to hit the roads of UK have tied up with Ford Fuel Oils, a family-owned West Country tanker operator to replace the older models of Volvo in the Ford Fuel Oils fleet of 25 tankers. The reputable tanker operator was said to be pleased with the new FL’s of Volvo.
“I find Volvo trucks very reliable, they run fine. They are one of the best trucks I run. I am gradually replacing the older trucks with the new Volvo’s,” Ford Fuel Oils’ Transport Manager Mike Jones said in an interview.
The Volvo Euro 4, FL-280 18-tonne vehicles were subjected to full European ADR specifications. Operating within a 30 mile radius of the depot, the tankers will each deliver 2 to 3 full loads per day of a variety of products including diesel and kerosene. With many Ford Fuel Oils’ customers located in rural and even urban areas, with narrow roads and lanes, maneuverability was an important consideration in the decision to buy the Volvos, due to their high-quality Volvo auto parts.
The FL’s 12,000 litre, 4-compartment tank is equipped with a state-of-the-art drumflow system. This completes the roster of the FL’s efficient Volvo auto parts, therefore allowing electronic metering for each product dispensed, including diesel and kerosene. The system automatically factors in the different product densities providing more accurate control at the point of delivery. And what with Volvo’s supreme Swedish car legacy, it is not so hard to trust the Volvo Euro FL Tankers.
