Volvo Environment Prize Awards Rocky Mountain Institute Chief Scientist

Volvo Environment Prize Awards, one of the world’s top environmental awards was proud to announce that Amory B. Lovins, Chairman and Chief Scientist of the Rocky Mountain Institute has bagged the Volvo Environment Prize Award.

Aside from manufacturing the high-quality Volvo auto parts, the Swedish carmaker also involves itself in the recognizance of the people who have made outstanding contributions to understanding or protecting the environment whether through scientific, socio-economic, technological innovation, or the discovery of global or regional problems. The Volvo Environmental Prize is awarded by an independent foundation, and its laureates reign from the different areas of environment and sustainability fields. Lovins will be awarded in Stockholm on November 1, 2007.

Incidentally, Lovis has also been awarded with the Blue Planet Prize, an acknowledgment of individuals who have made significant leaps in science in order to solve global environmental issues. Since Lovis was able to bag both major awards, this is seen as a major accomplishment in his chosen field, and in his own endeavors to pursue the well-being of the environment.

“For Lovis to win both the Blue Planet and Volvo Environment Prize in the same year affirms once again the thought of leadership that has distinguished RMI’s first 25 years,” Michael Potts, RMI CEO said in an interview.

Volvo has been among the leading pioneers in the car industry for 80 years of perfection. Aside from creating the leading choice for car components, the Volvo auto parts, Volvo is also well-known for being immersed in fostering a good habitat for mankind.
