The Volvo S80
The technological advancements of the genius Volvo auto parts have gone a step further to bring anew some revolutionary safety features for its latest beauty, the Volvo S80. One will probably be baffled upon hearing acronyms such as the BLIS, the IDIS, or the PCC—but that would be anybody’s reaction to the latest innovation that Volvo weaved to the Volvo S80 parts.

The BLIS is the Blind Spot Information System, a sensor that can accurately detect another vehicle that comes in the offset rear blind spot. The data that is fed by the sensor will activate a visual signal that alerts the driver. This greatly helps since the driver’s focus on the road keeps his sight limited to all the other elements on the road that even the mirrors can not see. The IDIS is the Intelligent Driver Information System, or a system that prevents the driver from being distracted with things like phone calls and text messages.

On the other hand, the PCC or the Personal Car Communicator is an advanced control center that could be fitted inside a pocket. Upon touching a button, the car driver will be able to find out if the car doors are locked or unlocked, if the alarm has been activated, or set off. This control center uses the latest remote smart key technology and a highly sensitive heartbeat sensor—which is a first time in history—to detect if any intruder is present in the car. Keyless entry and keyless drive features come in to complete the smart package of the S80.

But we are not done with the acronyms yet. The IAQS or the Interior Air Quality System is the component that effectively reduces the amount of particles, pollen, gases, and other unpleasant odors in the air that the passengers could take in. All of the car’s interiors including the leather are guaranteed to be free from any allergenic and hazardous substances.

The impressive beauty of the Volvo S80 comes complete with all the right features. It actually as more ABC’s for you Volvo guys to find out and dream about, such as the Four-C or the Continuously Controlled Chassis Concept, the CZIP or the Clean Zone Interior Package, and more. But fret not, for these letters all spell that the Volvo S80 is the best drive for you. In fact, Volvo Car Malaysia will be offering the S80 in two versions—one is powered by the 2.5T five-cylinder engine with light pressure turbo that puts out 147kW (200hp); and the other is equipped with a normally aspirated, inline six-cylinder 3.2l that generates 175kW (238hp).

The New SUV Beauty---The Vovlo XC90 V8 Sport
From the genius of Volvo’s fleet of high-quality luxury SUV, a new breed of the XC90 comes in—and it has proven itself to be the sportiest of them all—the 2008 Volvo XC90 V8 Sport. the new XC90 bears the flagship of the high-quality Volvo auto parts in the arena of the SUV market.

With its trademark Volvo XC90 parts, the V8 Sport version was introduced as a midyear addition to last year’s limited production. The XC90 V8 Sport was widely accepted not only for its dynamic chassis setting, standard 19-inch alloy wheels with low-profile tires, interior specification upgrades and short-tuned suspension; but for its fresh and diverse physical beauty as well.

The Volvo XC90 V8 Sport---putting a sportier edge on Volvo SUV's

Both the XC90 V8 Sport and the XC90 V8 are equipped with the high-tech 4.4-liter 32-valve. Fitted with continuously variable intake and exhaust valve timing (CVVT), the sporty V8 was said to generate 311 horsepower and 325 lb.-ft. of torque. Both V8 models feature standard all-wheel drive with Instant TractionTM. The traction enhancing system functions through a computer-controlled Haldex AWD that instantaneously delivers up to 50 percent more torque to the rear axle only when needed, such as during takeoff. A six-speed “Geartronic” automatic transmission comes in standard on all XC90s.

For 2008, the XC90 V8 gains even more upscale cues with standard Sapeli wood inlays, shift knob and steering wheel, bright headlamp, taillight and C-pillar trim and fender extensions. A new Executive Package includes 19-inch “Galateia” alloy wheels, premium soft leather seating surfaces and premium floormats. All models receive a standard auto dimming rearview mirror.

A high performance sound system comes with all XC90s. For increased listening pleasure, V8 models can be equipped with a Dynaudio premium sound system. This includes a 6-CD changer, auxiliary input, MP3 capability, Dolby Pro-Logic II Surround Sound, 650-watt amplifier and 12 Dynaudio speakers. A dual screen rear seat entertainment system is also available to help preserve family harmony on the road. And to help guide the driver to the target destination, the Volvo navigation system with DVD map data and remote control is another popular option.

Smooth Interiors for the Smooth SUV

Adhering to Volvo’s core value of safety, all XC90 models are equipped with Roll Stability Control (RSC), Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC), Side impact Protection System (SIPS) with side airbags and Inflatable Curtains for all three rows. Volvo’s state-of-the-art Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) is available on all XC90s. Active Bi-Xenon headlamps with automatic level control, standard on the V8 Sport, can be specified for all other models. With this system, the headlight beams swivel up to 15 degrees for enhanced nighttime visibility while cornering.

Also introduced last year was an all-new 3.2-liter in-line six-cylinder engine for the XC90 3.2. This naturally aspirated powerplant replaced the 2.5T, utilizing the latest technology to maintain the same exterior dimension and fuel consumption as a five-cylinder engine. The result is 235 horsepower, an increase of 27 hp versus the 2.5T, and an identical 236 lb.-ft. of torque. It achieves performance and economy thanks to Variable Cam Timing (VCT) and Cam Profile Switching (CPS). With CPS, the intake valves can be lifted to different heights depending on engine revs and load - a lower lift for economical driving and a higher one for more power.

The Volvo S80
The Volvo S80 Parts has been credited as the Volvo S80 has been named the Safest Large Luxury Car by the Arlington Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in its findings today, August 16. The IIHS conducted a series of crash tests for side-impact collisions, comparing five cars in the large luxury category which includes the Acura RL, Mercedes E-Class, Cadillac STS, BMW 5 Series, and the Volvo S80. But due to the impressive features of the Kia Amanti, it was also included in this category even if it has not been out yet.

During the test, each car was hit on the driver’s side by a barrier moving 31 mph, an impact that’s supposed to simulate a sport-utility vehicle striking between the driver and rear passenger. Researchers measured structural damage, as well as possible head injuries to the driver and rear passenger. They then assigned each car a rating of good, acceptable, marginal, or poor.

The Volvo auto parts have proven its quality again as it prevailed among two other cars: the Acura (HMC) RL, and Kia Amanti. No car maker received the lowest rating, but the Mercedes E-Class and Cadillac (GM) STS were rated acceptable. In perhaps the biggest shocker of the test, the BMW 5 Series was deemed marginal. In an ironic twist, BMW, known for its engineering prowess, was the first car maker to introduce head-protecting side-impact air bags, in the 5 Series in 1998.

According to IIHS President Adrian Lund, the purpose of the crash tests was to give companies like BMW the chance to better themselves. “When they make improvements, the automakers can request a retest,” says Lund in an interview. “And we do update our ratings whenever there’s a design change.”

In the 12 years that the IIHS has conducted frontal crash tests, this carrot-on-a-stick approach has been effective: Nearly all cars have a good rating, as opposed to about 50% in 1995.

Lund and his team of researchers hope to do the same for side-impact safety, which has become a greater issue of concern since the roads have become populated with more SUVs and other taller vehicles.

Kia (KIMTF) may be celebrating its victory over three luxury cars, but the real winner of the test was the Volvo S80, which has now received a good rating in front, side, and rear-impact evaluations, earning it the IIHS Top Safety Pick award. What is more, the Volvo S80 will save customers more money while having a better chance at saving their life, compared to spending money with a Mercedes or a BMW 5 Series.
