In the town of Carrollton, 18-year-old Marc L. Miller has been collecting codes from Coca-cola bottle caps so that he could win a television from Coke’s rewards contest. Much surprise rushed to him when he found out that he now has the chance to take home the coveted Volvo auto parts of the Volvo XC90.
Coca-cola is sponsoring a rewards program for their customers. They have imprinted codes on bottle caps, and they are convertible to points. Points correspond to certain prizes, or to use for the sweepstakes, because bigger prizes are waiting. This is a marketing initiative that Coke started in 2006. Miller, enthusiastic to join for a new television, collected the codes from bottle caps and 12-packs and joined the contest through www.mycokerewards.com. But then, an angel probably whispered encouragement to him to try and go for the Volvo XC90 parts.
Which he did, and what a stroke of luck was with him indeed.
“I got an e-mail saying I won the Volvo,” he said in an interview conducted by the Saginaw news. “I was just jumping off the walls. I wasn’t sure if I would win or not, but then the dealer called me, and I was running through the house.”
Miller was overwhelmed with this turn of events, saying that it was worth a lot more than the television. He was not sure if he wanted to keep the Volvo auto parts though. He has been thinking about reselling it back to the retailer because there was still so much tax to deal with. Nevertheless, congratulations for winning the ultimate SUV Mr. Miller. While some could only drool at this SUV, you got it for free. We say keep on drinking coke, and then drive the XC90 home.
