Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

Volvo is aiming to attain great green scores by putting in Volvo auto parts that would make its C30 one of the clean cars in the industry.

Volvo C30 Efficiency

The Volvo C30 Efficiency definitely practices what its name suggests as it has CO2 emissions of 120g/km and also has a fuel economy of 62.8 miles per gallon. Volvo prides itself in this car, as the C30 Efficiency is the Swedish automaker’s greenest conventional-engine car ever. It comes from a revamped 1.6-liter turbo-diesel with 104bhp. It also sports revised gearing and aerodynamics which contribute in boosting its fuel economy.

Inside the Volvo C30 Efficiency

Volvo intends to add this new model to the range so that it could offer a vehicle that is under the band B road tax bracket – it costs around £35 a year in VED. The C30 Efficiency also benefits from its low CO2 figure through being exempted from the London congestion charge under new plans that are being considered for next year. The C30 Efficiency will be sold together with the current 109bhp C30 1.6D, which has a fuel economy of 57.6 miles per gallon and has CO2 emissions of 129g/km. this model is under the band C road tax bracket and so its owners pay £115 a year in road tax. The 1.6D, however, could sooner or later be taken out from the range.

Aside from the C30 Efficiency, Volvo has also developed greener new vehicle transmission for the 2.0-liter turbo-diesel versions of the S40, V50, and C30. this transmission box uses Powershift technology and also a clever two-clutch system provide immediate gear changes. The result could only be a boost in efficiency over the standard automatic oil-burners. This will be available together with the Volvo C30 Efficiency beginning early next year.
