Trips for Kids Founder Named Volvo for Life Award Finalist
Thursday, November 15th, 2007
This athlete, teacher, community organizer, mentor, youth advocate and environmentalist-in-one is yet again up on the podium to prove herself worthy of one more thing.
The makers of Volvo auto parts are proud to present the Volvo for Life Awards, where they will grant honor to “real-life champions who are doing extraordinary work in their communities”. Marilyn Price, the Founding Director for Trips for Kids (TFK), was named as one of the finalists for the said awards. There are three categories that Volvo laid out. They are: Safety, Quality of Life, and Environment. Price is included in the second category, giving Trips for Kids a chance to receive $100,000. Price is also a Mountain Bike Hall of Fame inductee, and through this, she was able to reach out to the “underserved youth” the chance to grasp the real mountain biking experience. She is also opening the outdoors to these kids, who will eventually develop a priceless appreciation for nature—which is just what this generation needs.
So for those who want to help the advocacy of TFK, they may do so by voting online for Marilyn Price. Bagging the price will do a lot for the organization, let alone help more kids. From the good old days where Price preps her Volvo wagon with 11 mountain bikes, she now finds Volvo in a whole new meaning.
Volvo proves that they are not just excellent in creating high-quality Volvo auto parts, but also in finding true role models. Hence, they started the Volvo for Life Awards last 2002.
