The planning of the 2009 Volvo XC60 started early in the summer. The brainstorming of this new model included the hatching of interesting details, innovation ideas and inspiring designs to be used. The upcoming Volvo is a mixture of the different types of cars. Steve Mattin, Volvo Cars’ Design Director, has said that this Volvo has a “very bold, muscular XC feel” to it but at the same time is “very sleek… charismatic lines of almost a coupe.” The design innovation of the anticipated Volvo XC60 will give insight to the way future Volvo cars would look and feel. The elements included in the XC60 will be important, since it will determine some of the factors that the forthcoming Volvo cars will produce. Volvo is expected to bring in the new model to the public some time soon in the market. Although no definite date was given, the Volvo CX60 was already seen in Sweden, on a lake in the Arctic Circle. It already went through a test drive.

This model is supposedly based on the Land Rover LR (Freelander 2) and would utilize the same DOHC 3.2-liter six-cylinder. The 2009 XC60 was spotted to have LED rear tail lights and a deep rear window, which possibly helps in terms of visibility. Its lower body was reported to be wide, with the upper section giving off a sporty yet stylish design. The tail lights are located at the corners of the roof with the glass tailgate. The glass tailgate can be opened in three various ways. It can open fully, just on the top section or the lower section.

The interior of the vehicle is made up of tanned leather and aluminum. It also has the so-called “floating” center (the console and dashboard) that it is popularly known for. The controls do not become visible. Not until the vehicle had started. It is made to be spacious, able to have a five adult-seating with plenty of space for the luggage.

This new XC model has an electronically-controlled four-wheel drive system. This certain type of Volvo sports a 230 hp at 6,300 rpm. It also has a 234 lb.-ft of torque at 3,300 rpm. Its 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine runs on a fuel which is emission-reducing bio-ethanol.

The all-new Volvo V70 is made even more luxurious and has added a sportier feel to it. It has greater performance, with its versatility made much better. Its intelligent design allows more availability of space for both passengers and luggage. Volvo is trusted for being a safe car and that reputation is not risked in the Volvo V70.

It is not only adults who will travel with comfort and protection. Children will also be able to travel without their parents having to worry. The Side Impact protection System (SIPS) improves their safety with its stronger body structure. Combined with the extended inflatable curtains and adjustable child booster seats, the all-new Volvo V70 delivers comfort and safety to children.

Not negating their safety standards for being a stylish car, Volvo V70’s SIPS is redesigned for optimum protection against side impacts. Its strong body structure makes it possible to keep the force of a collision away from the passengers. The side impact airbags help absorb the maximum impact of the body since it is inflated five times as much as the chest chamber.

The all-new Volvo V70 also comes equipped with the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), an option for the drivers. A camera is strategically placed in the outer mirror and detects when the driver is entering a blind spot. A warning light will alert he driver if this happens and will work even when in the dark.

There is also a collision warning together with the auto brake. This alarms the driver of a possible collision, giving the driver enough time to react and avoid the collision. The braking system’s hydraulic pressure is increased, making it possible that a successful braking happens even if the brake pedal is not pressed hard. In case the driver is not able to step on the brakes when a collision is about to happen, the brakes are automatically activated. This automatic braking is intended to slow down the speed of the car, helping make it possible to reduce the risks that might occur should any braking not happen. Although the avoidance of collision is not always completely certain, the automatic braking does help by reducing the car’s speed by up to 25 km/h (15 mph), in approximation.

Not only is Volvo V70 safe and secured but it also has a space that is more than enough. There is an extra load compartment under the floor, giving extra room for keeping things. It is easily accessible via a hatch, which automatically locks when the tailgate closes.

The Volvo C30
null

Volvo’s smallest car in its model range, the sporty Volvo C30 has finally been launched during an outdoor event at the Valletta Waterfront last Wednesday.

“The compact format has not prevented Volvo from integrating much of what is best in the larger Volvo cars,” David Gasan, Gasan Enterprises managing director has said in an interview.

The Volvo C30 is described to be “nimble”, even in limited space. Otherwise, it is still built according to the same principles as the other Volvo cars. It also offers comfortable and flexible interior space, with a big-car feel and place for four adults, as Volvo says.

The Volvo C30 includes a BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) in order for the drivers to make it easier to detect other vehicles in the blind spot of the car through the use of the cameras mounted in the side door mirrors. Aside from this, the C30 is well-armed with the high-quality Volvo auto parts assembly.

The C30 utilizes the S40 T5’s powertrain—a 2.5-liter 218-horsepower turbocharged inline-5 and a six-speed manual while a five-speed automatic will be optional, and front Volvo struts/rear multi-link suspension, which has been firmed up with stiffer springs and dampers.

The C30 is capable of 0 to 60 mph in a brisk 6.2 seconds, according to Volvo, with the quarter-mile coming in under 15 seconds at around 95 mph. While the C30 does not suffer from turbo lag, a balky shifter, or a flimsy structure. Notably, the duration from throttle tip-in to full boost is minimal. For those who want a piece of the new C30, they are now available at Volvo auto houses. –>
