Volvo Headlights: Lighting the Way

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

Unless one has a pair of eyes that light up the road like Rudolph’s red nose, headlights are a necessity for anyone who wishes to drive a car in the dark hours of the night. Night time driving, admittedly, scores some better when it comes to road convenience. There is less if not exactly no traffic to contend with. Jaywalkers are next to none. The roads are clear. Pollution is less prevalent since there are less cars competing for space on a stingy stretch of pavement the local government officials call highway.

Indeed, night time driving does have a number of good things to recommended it. But you can only hope to enjoy these if your Volvo has headlights that work perfectly. You can, after all, hardly expect to drive through the gloom and the shadows unless you have a pair of Volvo headlights to number among those Volvo auto parts in your car that are not down with a glitch. Because if your headlights are getting cranky, better for you to stick to bouts of daytime driving rather than risk a collision with a tree, post or worse, another car. So if you have plans to enjoy your drive, make sure those Volvo headlights aren’t already on the blink before you climb behind the wheel of your Volvo.

volvo fog light

What are fog lights, you might ask and why do you need them in your Volvo? Volvo Fog lights are auxiliary lamps that serve in place of low beam headlamps for lighting when driving through fog, rain or dust. A Volvo Fog light is usually controlled by a switch separate from the one controlling the head lamp. A Volvo Fog light, then, is often wired to operate independently of the headlights. On the other hand, for reasons of safety, Volvo fog lamps should often be wired to the tail lamp so that the tail lamps will be on whenever the fog lamps are. This is to ensure that if you ever find yourself on the road in thick fog, facing tough rains or an extremely dusty terrain, oncoming vehicles will see your car, preventing possible accidents or collisions.

With this additional auto lights in your ride, the risks posed by driving through rain or fog won’t be so great or dangerous, whether for yourself or for your fellow drivers on the road.

I don’t know how most individuals go about it, but I—for one—do my utmost best to keep my windshields in a state of gleaming sparkle, free from those nefariously insistent spots of dirt. But try as I might, all my efforts almost always fall short. Something always manages to happen in order to keep me from achieving my righteous ends. Who knew keeping those blasted windshields as clean as the day I bought them was going to be nearly next to impossible?
