Volvo Launches New Truck Features
Tuesday, August 14th, 2007Volvo Trucks of North America will be showcasing a new set of safety features for its highway trucks on August 23 to 25 at the Great American Trucking Show.
Aside from the original Volvo auto parts, the new trucks will be implemented with a tire pressure monitoring system, which will be available in the fourth quarter. The said system will monitor each wheel using remote sensors and also displays real-time tire pressures and temperatures. Drivers will receive alerts for any individual tire, telling them if it is over or under-inflation. High temperatures and sudden leaks or the loss of pressure will be reported too. According to Shocks and Struts News, a new set of OEM Bilstein Shocks will be incorporated to upgrade the suspension system, making it safer for the truck drivers and other vehicles on the road as well.
The newly equipped Volvo trucks will also flaunt off new mirrors with integrated high-intensity light-emitting diodes for the Volvo turn signal. The mirror displays a flashing red arrow at the bottom of the mirror surface when the turn signal is activated. The signal has two light levels for day and night driving, and has a 70 degree viewing angle. The mirror with turn signal is now available for customers.
The new set of upgraded trucks will lessen highway accidents as Volvo acknowledges the need to do something about it. True enough, the Swedish car maker have once again triumphed in its innovations.
